Photographer Bharat Patel, a dedicated advocate for the nomadic and denotified (NT-DNT) groups of India, approached me to collaborate on a large-format book titled Nomadic Odyssey. This project documents the lives and stories of these highly marginalised and often overlooked communities. And seeks to raise awareness about their unique cultures, challenges, and resilience.
Collaborating closely with Bharat, I outlined the book's design structure and layout, showcasing a blend of powerful imagery and narrative text that allowed the nomadic communities' stories to take centre stage.
The project exemplifies the power of photography in amplifying underrepresented voices and preserving cultural narratives. Through careful collaboration and a commitment to high-quality production, we created a significant work that honours the experiences of the nomadic and denotified groups of India. And now stands not only as a visual representation of their stories but also as a call to action for greater awareness and advocacy for these communities.
