For the 2025 Fedrigoni 365 calendar, I was assigned the numeral 21 and the seed word "Top."
In my research, I uncovered a fascinating connection between gold prospecting and the mineral zincblende, historically known as Blackjack during the Great Gold Rush. This term not only referred to a key indicator in gold prospecting but also became linked to the 'top' bonus hand in the popular card game vingt-et-un (21), ultimately influencing the game's name.
Inspired by this rich narrative, I created an illustration that embodies these themes, printed in Pantone 877 metallic silver on Fedrigoni's Sirio Pearl Ice White paper. This piece weaves together historical and contemporary elements, reflecting the allure of both gold prospecting and gaming culture.
